Teapot for Making Good Tea

Is a teapot essential to making a good cup of tea?

I use loose tea, and since I don’t have a teapot (can’t afford one right now), I use a gravy-jug type thing in the mean time to brew the tea, and then pour it through a strainer basket into my mug.

Is this a decent way of brewing tea?

As the other person said, your answer is in the taste. If it’s good, that’s all that matters. You don’t need a teapot, I use a french press for green & white teas. As long as the tea has room to expand and the temperature & brewing time are correct, the brewing container really doesn’t matter.
