Would you refinish a 1940 Turkish Mauser?

I have a 1940 Turkish Mauser with the straight bolt. It's not in terrible condition (no rust, no pitting), but could use a spruce up. Everything is original on it, all the numbers match up. I don't want to "sporter-ize" it, but I think polishing up the bolt and giving the wood stock a new finish would make it much nicer. I'm not looking at selling it, and I've heard that Turk Mausers don't really have a collectors value either. I'm just looking for opinions; cause I don't want to do something taboo to an old rifle. If I did refinish it, it wouldn't be my first rifle, I've refinished plenty of rifles to 'new' and done some retro looks as well.
