laptop question about dvd maker?

So I have a compaq presario f700 that came with vista. My computer crashed one day and when I had it fixed I asked them to put XP on instead of vista. Well I had been making home dvds before, of my son, and now the program I used isn't on there anymore. I can't remember for the life of me what it was called..maybe hp dvd suite or something like that? Does anyone have this or know what I'm talking about?
I wasn't finished editing one of my movies when the computer crashed, but I had it saved on a cd. Now when I put it in my computer the movie plays but the sound doesn't play.
